In addition to being an artist, Vincent Icke is also a professor of theoretical astrophysics. He is nationally known for his lectures and appearances on radio and TV, where he explains and highlights scientific developments and backgrounds in an understandable and lively way.
ABOUT VINCENT ICKE
Vincent Icke is the son of an artist and has been provided by his father with everything to develop his talent, ever since he could hold a pencil. He is also a scientist: physicist, astronomer.
These two inseparable facets of his person reinforce and challenge each other. When he was already a professor in Leiden and Amsterdam, he also wanted tot deepen his art and was admitted tot the Gerrit Rietveld Academy. There he tried to keep a forced distance from his scientific work. Until his fellow students asked him in amazement why he didn't make use of such a natural source of inspiration: the universe and the workings of nature, with all its extremes.
Since then, he has incorporated many of his fascinations with space and what can be discoverd in it into his artworks. To do this, he uses a large numer of techniques: installations, etchings, paintings, computer graphics and more.
